Canadian folk singer and musician Stan Rogers wrote music “inspired by Canadian history and the daily lives of working people, especially those from the fishing villages of the Maritime provinces and, later, the farms of the Canadian prairies and Great Lakes.” via wiki.  Just take a min to listen to the link bellow I promise you wont be disappointed.

There are so many profound things to say about this video. Beards. Whiskey. The one guy who seems to be out of place. (Kinda looks like he’s in a mid-nineties alternative band.)
Really, so hard to listen to this and not get choked up a bit.

I can’t tell you how much I *still* miss going out to hear Stan and Garnet play in some tiny little club. My recollection is that a lot of us sang along when Barrett’s Privateers came around. I also have a fond memory of Stan just decimating (verbally) a drunk/heckler. You don’t mess with a guy who’s performed up in the Yukon!
