My father had one of these about 10 years ago. He painted it baby blue and installed a Chevy engine. A stiff ride, but a fun vehicle.
Comment by Brian B September 28, 2010 @ 8:58 pmBrian, that sounds great. I am sure any of these still on the road have to have a new engine under the hood. Your father’s Willy sounds beautiful.
Comment by nbolton September 30, 2010 @ 8:25 amThanks for the post! Lately I’ve been more than a little infatuated with four-wheel drive “station wagons,” such as these Jeeps, Chevy Suburbans, Land Rovers, etc. I guess I’m tired of all these crossovers. The new Explorer just makes me sad. Am I being overly nostalgic? I can’t help being drawn to utility, capability and space; none of which are offered in many of today’s crossovers. Oh well, keep up the great work!
